CALHOUN MEN ATTACK SPENCER BUSINESSMAN - Chloe Man Charged With Concealed Weapon

A Letherbark, Calhoun County man and his two sons were arrested after they attacked a Spencer businessman.

Michael King, 44, and his sons, Preston King, 19, and A. J. King, 18, were charged with battery on Gary Alvis, owner of a sporting goods shop on Market Street.

Spencer Police said the Kings' attacked Alvis shortly after he closed his shop and walked to the corner of Main and Market streets.

The Kings' allegedly jumped from a vehicle attacking Alvis. One of them reportedly was armed with a club.

Police Chief Gary Williams said the altercation resulted from a long-time dispute the Kings had with Alvis.

King's wife, Denise, is an employee in the sporting goods shop.

The three Calhoun men were arraigned and released after posting $500.

The court told the Kings to stay away from Alvis and the business until the dispute is resolved.

A Chloe man, Terry Lee McCune, was found guilty in Roane County magistrate court for carrying a concealed weapon.

Jearl Joseph McCune, Jr. of Arnoldsburg, was found guilty of speeding, falsifying insurance certificate, no proof of insurance, driving while suspended.
