The Calhoun County Community Educational Outreach Service (CEOS, formerly Extension Homemakers) along with WVU Extension Service are conducting a six week "Character Counts" program during the after school "Heads Up" program at Pleasant Hill Elementary School.

Character Counts deals with six important character traits: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. Each pillar of character will be defined by using role-play, skits, story time, crafts and other activities to impress upon the children how important it is to have good character traits.

The topic for January 23rd was respect. Janet Cunningham, Michelle Smith, and Pat Radabaugh, Pleasant Hill CEOS taught the class.

During the class, the instructors had as much fun as the children. Each child took home a handout on respect to color. The next class will be on January 30th, the topic will be responsibility.
