Robert L. "Bob" Sinnett, 76 - Spencer

Robert L. "Bob" Sinnett, 76, of Spencer, died Tuesday, January 24, 2006, at home, after an extended illness.

Bob was born April 16, 1929, at Spencer, a son of the late Webster C. and Emma F. Jarvis Sinnett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Macel, Iris, Josephine, Sally and Elizabeth; three brothers, Charles, Paul and Jerome.

He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, serving on board the USS Philippine Sea.

After World War II, he graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and in 1952 co-founded and co-owned Sinnett Funeral Home, Spencer. A few years later, he left Spencer and served families as a funeral director in Nevada and California, returning to Spencer in 1986.

After his retirement in 1990, he enjoyed spending time fishing, traveling and visiting people. His love for people and the telling of stories were his great treasures.

Also, as a youth he attended the Rush Creek Baptist Church and later in his life, attended First Baptist Church of Spencer.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Counts Stump Sinnett; one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Frank Hall of Albion, CA; one son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Sue Sinnett of Reno, NV; two stepsons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Charmaine Stump of Pineville, Russ and Cheri Stump of Bluefield; two brothers, John of Fredericksburg, VA and Clyde of Spencer; 15 grandchildren, Michelle, Christopher, James, Sara, Jason, Kari Beth, Kourtney, Tori, Matthew, Demetrius, Methena, Gabriel, Andrew, Heidi and Hans; and three great grandchildren, Summer, Noah George and Mileena.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, January 28 at 1:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastors Mike King, Allen Stump and Russ Stump officiating. Interment will be at a later date.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours prior to the service on Saturday.
