Norvil White, 89 - Amma

Norvil White, 89, of Amma, went home to be with the Lord on January 24, 2006 at Sunbridge Nursing Home, after a long illness.

He was born at Blue Creek, a son of the late Andy and Esta Harper White. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Rose White; two sons, Ricky and Dale.

Norvil had lived at Amma for a few years with his daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Roger Carper. He worked for Harris Brothers Roofing Co., Charleston. He retired with 35 years of service and was the oldest member of the Roofer's Union, Local 185. He had received his 50 year pin in 2004. He was an avid trader and farmer. He will be sadly missed.

In addition to Brenda and Roger of Amma, survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Pastors Shirley and Harley Cline of Cross Lanes, Darlena and Dean Greathouse of Spencer; sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Joann White of Wooster, Oh, Joe and Bonnie White of Elkhart, IN, Dink and David White both of Indiana; sister, Ruby Jones of Clendenin; brother, Gus White of Ohio; 18 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Friday, January 27 at 1:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Harley Cline officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Thursday. The family appreciates all the attention, love and care that Sunbridge gave to our father.
