Briana Blankenship (left) has been chosen as a member of the WV All-State Band for 2006.

The Calhoun High student auditioned at Fairmont State University on January 7 and was one of 16 chosen from 110 trumpet players.

Auditioning students perform two state selected solos, a solo of their choice, sight read a selection of music, and be able to play all major scales from memory.

Briana will be performing with students from across the state at the Music Educators Conference in Charleston March 30 through April 1.

The students will spend two days rehearsing the music under the direction of WV Symphony Conductor Grant Cooper and then perform at the closing of the conference on Saturday.
