Hazel Ellison Bullard, 86 - Belmont, formerly of Orma

Hazel Ellison Bullard, 86, of Belmont, formerly of Orma, West Virginia, died Saturday, December 31, 2005, in the Camden Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg.

She was born June 4, 1919, at Oka, Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Josiah and Esther Hunt Ellison. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Burl Bullard; three brothers, Chandis, Rastus and Otto Ellison; one sister, Helen Ellison; and one son-in-law, Orville Hackney. She was the last surviving member of the "Si" Ellison family.

Hazel was a retired employee of the Spencer Hospital and a former post master of the Elana Post Office for over 20 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Belmont and a 1940 graduate of Calhoun County High School.

Survivors include three daughters, Frances Tawney, Sandra Hackney and Vicki Deweese all of Belmont; one son, John Bullard of Chloe; foster sister, Martha Tawney of Parkersburg; four grandsons, David and Jack L. Tawney, II, Patrick and Justin Deweese; five great grandchildren, Christopher, Nathan, Sarah Ruth and Matthew Tawney, and Olivia Deweese; one step great grandchild, Bradon Furst.

A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, January 3 at 11:00 a.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Garry L. Bowen and the Rev. Kelly Snyder officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Hill Cemetery, Elana.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Monday.
