CLAY WOMAN ALLEGEDLY STRANGLED TO DEATH

(12/29/2005)
A Clay County woman has reportedly been strangled to death inside a mobile home at the Sizemore Trailer Park at Maysel.

Dead is Thelma Lorraine Thomas, 36.

Authorities responded to what was allegedly a domestic dispute at 12:19 a.m. Monday, the day after Christmas.

Police had not confirmed the nature of the woman's death nor had they filed charges late yesterday.

Sources close to the scene have indicated the woman's two children may have witnessed a male choking her. The children are elementary and middle school students.

The State Police mobile crime lab was summoned to the scene and Thomas' body was sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Charleston.

Authorities had previously been summoned to the dwelling because of domestic disturbances.

Another source told the Herald that a murder had not been committed, that the woman had "problems" to which she succumbed.
