They set up chairs in the back of the church but still folks were standing Friday evening when the Christmas play was presented at the Burning Springs M. E. Church. Gay Park and helpers put on a spectacular and moving performance even though "Joseph" abandoned his family and "Mary" had to go bring him back. Hallie Cunningham was able to make it out, Cap'n Spock made the piano talk and Aunt Verda came down from Millstone to visit.

Rev. Juanita Lockhart filled her regular appointment at the Burning Springs M. E. church Christmas morning.

The regular meeting of the Creston Community organization will be at 7 P. M. on Tuesday, January 3 at the building.

The Creston auction will be Saturday, January 7, starting at 6 P. M. at the Community Building.

Dorothy Graham, age 80, passed away after a long battle with various maladies. She was the daughter of famous singer Mallie McCune. Mallie was a descendant of Paulser McCune of Civil War fame (Paulser Knob) and Revolutionary War patriot Peter McCune. Dorothy was one who, in the face of adversity, always held a positive attitude and spread cheer with music and song.

Her philosophy might well be reflected in the following poem that she wrote:

First of All

The time is soon coming when I will say good-bye
To all my friends and loved ones here below
But don't worry about me
Don't let it make you cry,
For I will be with Jesus when I go.

Chorus

I want to tell Him that I thank him
For all He's done for me
For hearing me when on his name I call
I want to tell Him that I'm sorry for all the wrong I've done.
I want to tell Him that I love Him first of all.
Some day when life is o'er, and I enter Heaven's door,
I want to see the ones I loved down here
That will be a glorious meeting
When we gather on that shore,
And shake hands with the One I love so dear.

Wanda Belt, age 78, formerly of Deaver's Fork, passed away in a Parkersburg rest home. She always met folks with a smile and happy greeting. Her father, Lewis Roberts, was a pumper of old Reed and Bessemer engines in the oil field using shackle lines and such to produce the production.

With the use of some technology local residents were able to use the computer and see & communicate with Todd Rhodes who is sojourning in scenic Iraq where the American troops are eliminating those who would, had they the chance, kill us all.

Local residents celebrated Christmas and Hanukkah as the occasion might dictate without politically correct changes or modifications.

Anna and Jane Engelke and Wilbur Schenerlein III were all visiting in Creston for Christmas. Also calling were Sarah Rhodes and daughters and Keith Collins who also visited Mrs. Harley Collins, Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Edwards and Mr. & Mrs. Kenny Collins.

The price of local Penn grade crude fell to $54.50 the week before Christmas and travelers from other areas report that gasoline prices elsewhere are now under $2/gallon.

It has been reported that "a big deal" relating to area oil production recently happened.
