(12/22/2005)
A Mt. Zion man, Darrell E. Blake, 34, was sentenced this week in Spencer for assaulting several people at a Spencer nightclub, Gilligan's Malibu.

Spencer newspapers said Blake has no memory of the incident. Reports say he assaulted two bar employees and and a patron in January, 2004.

When the Roane County Sheriff's Department answered the complaint, Blake attempted to strike officers.

Police discovered bar patron Jack Stoudt unconscious on the floor.

Police said when they walked in, Blake had already struck bar employee Gilbert Norman in the head several times, having the 68-year-old Norman on the floor, kicking and punching him, according to Spencer Newspapers.

Blake reportedly struck bartender Linda Cadle in the head and choked her.

Felony charges against Blake were reduced and Judge Tom Evans placed Blake on home confinement for one year, which is to include 20 days in regional jail on the weekends. He was also fined $400.
