YATAURO APPOINTED TO COUNCIL OPENING - Shook Sworn To Council Seat

Grantsville's town council unanimously appointed a new council person last night, former mayoral candidate Michelle Yatauro. Council had one other applicant, Stephanie Ferguson. Yatauro will take office in 2006. Recently appointed council person Diana Shook was sworn into office. Council passed a motion to advertise for bids to remove asbestos from the old town hall, in addition to its demolition, using money from the Town Hall Building Fund. Council approved the MOVRC to move ahead with applying for grants for water improvements. There was a discussion regarding what to do about the old Rainbow Hotel, considered to be a safety and health hazard. Council will place on a March ballot the issue of continuing an excess levy for street improvements.
