7:30 PM - Police, volunteer firemen and volunteers are searching the woods near south Grantsville tonight, looking for a 47-year-old man who left a residence about 1 p.m. this afternoon carrying a chain saw.

The man was identified as Ricky Meyer, long blond hair, wearing blue jeans, black leather jacket and white tennis shoes.

Grantsville Police Chief Ron Gordon said the man was at a residence in the Hathaway-Pine Street area.

Authorities received a call for assistance about 7 p.m.

Temperatures have already dropped to nearly 20 degrees.

The Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department and Trooper 1st Class Jeff Hunt responded shortly after the initial call, and calls for additional assistance went to the Arnoldsburg and Upper West Fork VFDs.

Gordon said part of the area still has some snow, and it might be possible to track the man.
