received damaged on ice covered Nighcut Hill

Winter's first blast caused several accidents in the county on Thanksgiving Day and authorities responded to other assistance calls.

A two car accident on Nighcut Hill, just west of Cabot Station on Rt. 5, sent occupants to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center for evaluation.

None of the drivers or passengers appeared to receive serious injuries. Several children appeared to be un-injured, all being restrained in car seats.

The 3:45 accident was caused by freezing water on the highway near the top of the hill.

A Ford Explorer rolled-over on its side and a GMC Jimmy was also damaged, after encountering freezing water on the highway near the top of the hill.

The Jimmy was occupied by members of Larry and Teresa Robinson's family, two daughters and their children.

The Ford, which rolled-over was reportedly occupied by three females.

Calhoun EMS dispatched two ambulances and Minnie Hamilton Health Care sent an ambulance to the scene. The Grantsville VFD also responded.

Trooper 1st Class Jeff Hunt investigated.

Reports were made regarding two accidents on Liberty Hill and Rt. 16 south of Arnoldsburg, among other minor fender benders.

911 received a call regarding an intoxicated pedestrian walking down the highway at Stinson, and authorities responded to a domestic dispute.

No other major problems reported on the first day of of the holiday weekend.
