TURKEY HUNTER KILLS MAN - A Morgantown man has pled no contest to two counts of negligent shooting for killing a hunter and injuring another.

Thirty-four-year-old Curtis Wayne Davis Junior said he mistook the men for wild game during turkey season, and apologized to the families of both victims.

Thirty-eight-year-old Randall Hawkins and Robert Thompson Junior of Morgantown were hit by the same 12-gauge shotgun blast on April 28. Hawkins died of chest wounds.

Davis faces up to one year in prison and a ten thousand dollar fine on each of the two charges.

BRAXTON BAR ROBBED - After being held up at gunpoint by an early morning customer, a Braxton County bar employee managed got some of the cash back when she tossed a beer bottle at the exiting robber.

After the female employee was requested to cook some food, the employee turned around and the man pulled a black semiautomatic pistol and demanded cash.

He took the money from Pete's Bait Ranch Bar, and from the employee's purse.

The robber shoved the bulk of the money into his pockets and the remainder in a bag, then ordered the woman to the floor, said State Police.

"She threw a beer bottle at him and it busted against the wall," said police. Startled by the sound of the crashing bottle, the robber dropped the bag, ran to a blue car with a hatchback and sped off.

He was described as a white male, about 6-foot-1, with short, dark hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a white shirt.
