"My Parents Roscoe and Audra Parsons received this letter from my brother's commanding officer," said Saundra Ballengee. "We are very proud of Randy and want him to know how we feel. We know he reads the Herald quite often from Iraq, so we're hoping he will see this."

Saundra says, "All of his family here in the states want him to know we love him and his family."

Sergeant Parsons is married to the former Tracy McKown. They have two children, Cody, age 15 and Sierra, age 10.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Parsons,

I am honored to set at my desk this evening and write this letter informing you of all the outstanding things your son has done during his tour of duty in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Without a doubt, he has performed all of his duties in an exceptional manner and continues to work in a superior fashion day in and day out through the blistering 120 degree temperatures, blinding sand storms and endless work days. He is a pillar of success and I want to thank you personally for raising such a fine American. Our Army would not be what it is today if not for special Soldiers such as Staff Sergeant Parsons.

Because of his hard work and dedication to duty, we have been able to flawlessly we have been able to support more than 36,000 Soldiers, contractors, civilians and in some the local populous with rations, water, fuel, repair parts and many other sustainment items.

Staff Sergeant Parsons has been a key element in making these missions a complete success and without a doubt has proven to be a phenomenal combat veteran. He is highly trained, well versed in support and sustainment operations and an extraordinary leader amongst his peers. I would not hesitate to stand side by side with this Soldier in any aspect of life. Simply out, he is a gifted and talented logistical warrior who exudes success!

All the Soldiers of the 240th Quartermaster Company are extremely proud to serve our nation in her time of need. Our patriotism and honor shows daily through our hard work and dedication in support of the War on Terror, but it is your acts of kindness and love that sustain these courageous Soldiers and enable them to carry out their missions during the trials and tribulations of deployment operations.

Your support has unequivocally been and continues to be the driving force that sustain these Soldiers and I SALUTE YOU!
