Rev. Paul Williams filled his regular appointment at the Burning Springs M. E. church. There will be a gospel sing Saturday November 12, starting at 6 P. M. at the Burning Springs church. All singers and lovers of gospel music are invited.

A number of residents attended the charge meeting in Grantsville Sunday afternoon.

Local residents were (and are) upset that a 16 year old boy was found in bad shape at 5 A. M. the other Saturday in the middle of the alley (now Stewart Street) in Creston. While his family has connections on R. F. D. #1, he lives in another Wirt County community. He is afraid to talk and, it would seem, the gendarmes are afraid to investigate although individuals have found out the identity of some who were involved. The lad is lucky to be alive.

The Calhoun County Sheriff's department was calling in the Creston area over the weekend.

A big crowd was on hand for the Creston auction. Some folks are already looking forward to the next one which will be December 3.

Jason Stutler who sells copiers, computers, etc. was attending to business in Spencer the other day and noted that he would like to be cited in the Creston News so he could have a few minutes of fame. He is the son of Rev. Wm. Delmas and Linda Stutler.

County Commissioner and Mrs. Robert Lowe & daughter Logan were attending to business in Creston. The commissioner reported that he was sick. A bug has been going around.

Sierra Starcher and Bell Marchuck were both on the puny list over the weekend.

Mr. & Mrs. I. J. Lynch, Sr., Luke & Levi Lynch were Saturday supper guests of Denver & Tammy McFarland. Denver grilled up some chicken. Young Jacob Donley was spending his first night with Mamaw and grandpa Denver but he didn't get any chicken (giggles). He was a good baby and slept all through the night. He went to church but the preacher must have been boring as he slept through the entire sermon.

Potter Katz was consulting with Dr. Cain as a result of an injury. X-rays indicated that 3 weeks' rest is in order.

Anna Engelke is attending a convention of travel organizations in Detroit City. Earlier she had been in Philadelphia overseeing some historical tours which included the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. She also took a dinner cruise on The Spirit of Philadelphia.

The unseasonable fall weather continues in the Creston area. There are still live pepper plants although leaves have now turned. One of the most beautiful spots is on Ground Hog when the sun is hitting the leaves. With the weather change came the USDA's Asiatic beetles which are thick. Some local residents are having allergy and asthma attacks from the bests. The big liberals say James Earl Carter is a nice man. If such were the case, now that his pecan orchards are free from aphids, he could gather up these pests and return them to the Communist Chinese.

Work is continuing on the basement for the new home that Mowreys are building down on the W. T. Petty farm.

The local road crews patched up W. Va. 5 so travel should be better. It was noted that the "leaders" in Building 5 (the state HQ for highways) were trying to "find their way". Things ran smooth the other day when there was "an asbestos leak" and everyone in the puzzle palace was ordered to leave so an out of state firm could fix things and test for "clean air"...

Old King Kong, a denizen of the Creston Halloween party, returned to Creston. He said he wanted to get another kiss from a beautiful local woman. The Pumpkin lady kept her counsel.

Another Roane County man was killed in a drilling accident while the Haughts had another rig, this time a service rig, burn. Earlier their new drilling rig, except for two air compressors, was burnt to a crisp.

Garrell McKown reported gasoline was $2.19 in northern Ohio but the prices have not dropped that low locally. The price of local crude fell Saturday to $57/bbl.

Danny Carpenter fetched a fine load of logs down the West Fork on his new truck.

Some local cattlemen have been having trouble with grass tetany which is always a problem when grass grows during cool weather and does not have sufficient magnesium for proper animal health.

Cecil Starcher of Rose Hill was visiting friends & relatives in Creston over the weekend.

Lisa Bibbee of Mineral Wells was visiting relatives and attending to business in Creston.

James West of Chloe was attending to business at the mouth of the West Fork Saturday evening.

Former resident Ronnie Wyers was calling on local friends and acquaintances.

Jeff Westfall was among those calling on Mr. & Mrs. Carl Ferrell & family. Amy has a "new look".

Joe Echard has a new metal building on the foundation built by the gents who threw out trash while the Adopt-a-Highway cleanup was in progress.
