Genevieve Leah Ward, 89 - White Pine Community

Genevieve Leah Ward, 89, of White Pine Community, Grantsville, West Virginia, went to be with her Lord Saturday, October 15, 2005.

She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Francis and Mary Della Grimm Kelley. She was a member of the Cherry Fork United Methodist Church for many years.

She loved the Lord and demonstrated her faith by unconditionally loving her children, grandchildren and many others who came into her life. She possessed the rare quality of caring that is only found in a true child of God. She gave sacrificially to others without regard for her own well being.

Surviving are a son, Denzil Glenn Ward and his wife Andeline of White Pine; two daughters, Barbara J. Basnett and her husband Fred of Ravenswood, and Donna J. Rupert and her husband Richard of White Pine; one brother, Donald B. Kelley and his wife Willa Lea of Grantsville; two sisters, Laura Geraldine Kelley of Grantsville, and Frances Jean Miller and her husband Odus of Bull River; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ursel B. Ward; daughter, Janet Lee Ward Kelley; son, Ursel Bruce Ward; brothers, Virgil and Glenden Kelley; sisters, Gladys Whipkey and Carolina Barr.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 19 at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Rev. Alfred Hickman will officiate. Interment will be in the Cherry Fork-Kight Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to p.m. Tuesday.
