NEIGHBORS CATCH THIEVES IN NEARBY HOUSE

(10/15/2005)
Three Clendenin neighbors nab two robbery suspects at gunpoint.

Carl and Ginger Hughes and John Shultz, held the suspects at gunpoint Wednesday night until Kanawha sheriff's deputies arrived.

The neighbors told authorities that they noticed lights inside a home that was under construction.

They armed themselves and went over.

They reportedly found 23-year-old Christopher Lee Proctor of Pinch and 27-year-old David Everett Crist of Quick, who tried to run away.

One of the neighbors allegedly fired two warning shots into the air, stopping the men in their tracks.

Proctor and Crist have been arrested and charged with breaking and entering.

Deputies say they recovered items stolen from the structure in a pickup truck.
