9:15 pm - Numerous reports of an explosion were called to Spencer's 911 about 9 p.m. tonight.

Callers said there was an explosion in the Ripley Rd. (US 33-west), West Main Street section of Spencer.

The Spencer-Roane VFD and Roane County Emergency Squad responded, but did not discover the location of the blast, although it was reported to be near a car wash.

Residents on Parkersburg Road, a half-mile away, reported an "explosion and a flash."

Other callers to 911 said an explosion was heard near Rustic Acres, a development along US 33, west of Spencer.

State Police and the Spencer Police Department are investigating.
