Funds are reported missing from the coffers of the Town of Burnsville.

The Gilmer County detachment of the West Virginia State Police is conducting an investigation into missing municipal money.

Town officials reportedly discovered the shortage and requested an investigation.

The funds are believed to have been taken over a three-year period and amount to several thousand of dollars.

Gilmer County resident Teresa Self is the subject of the investigation.

Self has been relieved of her duties with the town, which is currently advertising for a replacement.
