How ugly were the veggies? Well, pretty ugly. (Hopefully, pictures to follow)

The PM Edition of the Calhoun County Farmers' Market ended last Friday with the First Annual Ugly Vegetable Contest held at Upper West Fork Park in Chloe.

Congratulations to winners Brier Stamens for the Ugliest Ugly Vegetable and Hannah Ross for the Biggest and Smallest Ugly Vegetable.

Thanks and appreciation are extended to judges Frank and Diana Tobia, who completed their difficult task with great expertise.

The Farmers' Market continues on a week to week basis each Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Upper West Fork Park and will do so until local produce runs out.

Seniors are reminded that senior vouchers will expire at the end of the month on October 31 and cannot be used after that date.

Last week, the market offered a variety of produce for sale including pumpkins, gourds, tomatoes, green beans, yellow squash, tomatillos, fresh pears, herb and house plants and more. If you have extra apples or potatoes, we have customers for you.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Ugly Vegetable Contest - look and listen for details for the upcoming "Wild Foods Potluck and Apple Dessert Contest" sponsored by the Calhoun County Farmers' Market on Sunday, November 6th.

Again, Wednesday markets will continue from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on a week to week basis at the Upper West Fork Park until produce runs out.
