RT. 14 BRIDGE IN WIRT DECLARED UNSAFE - Traffic Being Detoured

Traffic on State Route 14 east of Elizabeth is being detoured because of a bridge closing. The WV Department of Highways could not be reached in Wirt County last night to confirm the problem, but sources said a steel girder bridge at the intersection of Three Bridges Road and Rt. 14 (near Palestine) has been declared unsafe to traffic. Rt. 14 is a highway frequently used by Spencer and Roane County residents to travel to Elizabeth and Parkersburg. The WVDOT was erecting detour signs at Elizabeth, Grantsville and Spencer last night.
