Calhoun folks are helping Calhoun folks this weekend, with at least three events scheduled.

JACKIE GUMM BENEFIT

There will be an ATV poker run on Saturday October 1 at the Burnt House Community Building.

The proceeds will go to assist with medical expenses for Jackie Gumm, 73 of Smithville.

There will be food and drinks, as well as 50/50 drawings. There is a $10 entry fee, with a payout of $100.

WALTER WILSON BENEFIT

A benefit dinner, auction and sing is scheduled for Saturday October 1 to aid Walter Wilson whose home and possessions were devastated by the recent flooding in Calhoun County.

The event will be held at Jones' Archery at Big Springs. Dinner will be served from 1 to 6:30 p.m. The auction will begin at 7 p.m.

The menu includes, baked ham, scalloped potatoes, various side dishes and desserts, including homemade pies and cakes. Cost is $4 single and $7 couple.

CHURCHES WILL HELP WEST FORK FLOOD VICTIMS

Four area churches are planning a benefit for local residents who suffered damage in the recent flood in Calhoun County.

Walnut Memorial Church, Nebo Baptist Church, Mud Fork Church and The Tabernacle will have a Dip and Donate Dinner on Sunday, October 2 beginning at 12-noon at the Upper West Fork Park.

There will be lots of good home cooked food, including meats, salads, desserts and more.

The churches will also have a White Elephant sale during the event.
