CALHOUN BANKS DONATE $3,000 TO COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

(09/24/2005)

The Little Kanawha Area Community Foundation (LKACF) has received a donation of $3,000 from Calhoun Banks.

This donation will go into the Little Kanawha Area Community Support Fund and toward the challenge grant LKACF was recently awarded.

"I would like to encourage the business community as well as individuals to consider the benefits of a donation to the Community Foundation," said Jim Bennett, CEO of Calhoun Banks and a LKACF board member.

"This is something we all can do that will have lasting benefits to our community for years to come," he said.

LKACF received a challenge grant from the Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation through the West Virginia Grantmakers Association.

LKACF must raise $10,000 to obtain a $5,000 match from the Babcock Foundation. If they are successful in the first year, LKACF will receive the same challenge for a second year.

"I am absolutely elated that Calhoun Banks has broken the ice with their $3,000 contribution. We are 30 percent toward completion of our first goal of $10,000, and I am certain that we will have more to add to their gift very soon," said Karen Caltrider, Chair of the LKACF board.

Through the Babcock grant program, West Virginia Grantmakers Association works to help community foundations build local leadership and sustainability.

The Little Kanawha Area Community Foundation will receive assistance in developing a long-term strategic plan and its volunteer leaders will have access to a number of resources and trainings as part of the project.

If you are interested in making a donation to LKACF, please send it to The Little Kanawha Area Community Foundation, P.O. Box 944, Elizabeth, WV 26143.
