GILMER DRUG RAID NETS $180,000 IN HARVESTED POT

(09/22/2005)
What was described as one of the largest seizures of marijuana in the region has led to the arrest of two Gilmer County men.

State Police discovered illegal drug activity at two residences on Grass Run Road in Gilmer County, which led to the arrests of brothers Jimmy and Jeremy McCune.

Police received a tip that the brothers were cultivating and processing the drug.

After obtaining a search warrant, authorities discovered a trail of marijuana leading from one of the brother's house to a wooded area where they found a tarp concealing approximately 25 to 30 pounds of harvested marijuana.

The pot has an estimated value of $180,000.

Officers from three counties participated in the drug raid, discovering 32 plants, in addition to the cultivated pot.

State Police will present a case against the McCune brothers at the upcoming Gilmer County Grand Jury.
