DRIVER CLIPS POLE ON PHILLIP'S RUN

A 50-year-old driver received some serious injuries when his truck struck a utility pole on Phillip's Run last night.

Police did not identify the driver, who was taken to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center by Calhoun EMS and was to have been life-flighted to Charleston Area Medical Center.

The chopper could not land in Grantsville, and the accident victim was transported to Charleston by ambulance.

The accident happened at 7:35 p.m. on Rt. 16 about three miles south of Grantsville.

The Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department also responded.
