Densil Paul (Jack) Gumm, 76 - Grantsville

Densil Paul (Jack) Gumm, 76, of Grantsville, West Virginia, passed away September 20, 2005 at his home following an extended illness.

Born April 16, 1929 in Ritchie County, he was a son of the late Forest Lake and Hester Dailey Gumm. He served in the US Army as a Sergent First Class and was stationed in Germany. He was discharged in 1952. He was retired as a pipeline foreman, working 25 years for Carl E. Smith Pipeline Construction Company and 10 years for Ron Lane, Inc. He was an avid farmer and winner of the county and district Conservation Farm of the Year Award in 2004. He attended the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Maxine Frymier Gumm; sons, Bill (Sandy), John (Rolanna), Jim (Sarita) and Rick; eight grandchildren, Nick, Katie, Miranda Parker, Nathan, Brittany Blake, Landon, Michaela and Brody Gumm; one great grandchild, Triston Parker; step mother, Phebe Gumm; two sisters, Ruby Bailey and Connie Badgett.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Rapp and two brothers, Jennings (Mutt) and Burl Gumm.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, September 23 at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Interment will be in the Hardman Chapel Cemetery near Smithville.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
