An open house and birthday party for longtime Grantsville resident Margaret Cunningham was held Saturday at the Pleasant Hill UM Church.

The normally energized Margaret was even more energized as the crowd assembled to honor their friend. Margaret, when asked why she has lived so long, responded by giving some advice - "Don't sit down!"

Margaret, a fixture in south Grantsville, is a doer, always helping out and exuding excitement for the gift of life.

She is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Friends of Minnie Hamilton, auxiliaries, and belongs to the Order of Eastern Star #73, Sunny Cal Gals Red Hat Society, and participates in daily activities at the CCCOA's Senior Center. She is a member of Pleasant Hill UM Church.

Margaret's husband, Gerald D. "Cap" Cunningham, died in 2001 at the age of 85. he and Margaret had been married 62 years.

Margaret has two children, son Larry and his wife Jane Cunningham, a daughter, Leanna and her husband Ray Jobin, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

The event was sponsored by her church family and friends.

It is still not too late to send her a card:
