James K. Morgan - Formerly of Elizabeth

James K. Morgan, 90, died August 16, 2005.

He was born at Altizer, Calhoun County, WV in 1915 and raised on a farm in Elizabeth, WV. He received a B.S. in Business Administration in 1938 and a MBA from Akron University in 1941. In 1938 he joined Firestone as an accountant, leaving in 1942 to work as an Army Field Accountant. In 1943, he received a commission in the Naval Reserve and saw active duty with the 133rd Construction Battalion of the Sea Bees on Iwo Jima.

Following the war, he worked as an auditor for the IRS. 1950, he joined the accounting firm Chilton, Stump, and Davario, which he became a partner. He retired in 1980 as a partner in what is now known as Deloitte & Touche. A charter member, he served as President of the Akron/Canton Chapter of the Ohio Society of CPA's in 1964.

He was active on the board and committees of the Church in Silver Lake and belonged to the Kiwanis Club and the Torch Club. He enjoyed gardening and golf and was an avid fisherman at his summer cottage in Ontario, Canada.

Preceded in death by his wife, Irene M. and numerous brothers and sisters, he is survived by his daughter, Christine Morgan (David); son, James Morgan (Deborah); grandchildren, Joseph and Jeffrey Bukhari; and brother, Charles.

A memorial service was held Saturday, August 20 at The Church in Silver Lake, 2951 Kent Rd., Silver Lake, Ohio 44224 with Rev. Dianne Shirey officiating. Private interment was at Rose Hill Burial Park.
