OCTOBERFEST PARADE AT UPPER WEST FORK PARK

(10/01/2005)

Octoberfest 2005 is today at The Upper West Fork Park at Chloe, beginning at 10 a.m.

Activities include apple butter stirring, diabetic apple butter will be available this year.

The festival parade is at 1 p.m.

Earnest Coffey will be the Parade Marshal. He has been a member of the Upper West Fork Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years and a board member of the UWF Park for 3 years. Earnest and his wife Beulah have been married for 55 years, they reside at Chloe.

Live music starts at 4 p.m. and there will be games all day long.

A bounce house, a giant slide, dart throw, duck pond and a dime toss, will be part of the festivities. Other attractions will be a white elephant auction and a country store.

Anyone interested in participating or donating items for the auction please contact Sharon Settle at 655-8280 or to register for the parade contact Michele Sears at 655-8172.

Directions to the park - Rt 16 S of Arnoldsburg 10 miles, or from I-79 10 miles north on State Rt 16.

The crowning of the Octoberfest King and Queen will follow the Pretty Baby and Miss Octoberfest events. Contestants running for King are Allen Swisher of Chloe and Benjie Settle of Orma. Queen contestants are Jessie Hickman of Orma and Nora Swisher of Chloe. King and Queen are selected by a-penny-a-vote, the one with the most wins, the proceeds go to the park.
