A 40-year-old man was injured shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday when his 4-wheeler went out of control.

He was air-lifted to Charleston Area Medical Center suffering from multiple injuries.

Calhoun EMS and the Upper West Fork VFD responded to the accident on Upper Big Run off Nicut Road, where they indicated the injured man was combative and could be under the influence of alcohol.

Sheriff Carl Ballengee and Trooper 1st Class Jeff Hunt responded to the scene.
