Hall V. Francis, 89, of Grantsville, West Virginia, died Monday, August 29, 2005 at Muskingham Valley Nursing and Rehab of Beverly, Ohio. He was born December 11, 1915 in Calhoun County, WV to the late Joseph Lee and Clara Burrows Francis. Hall retired from Hope Gas Company and was a Veteran of WWII, the European Theater. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Tressa Wright Francis; three sons, Joseph L. of Parkersburg, Harold of Elizabeth, and Brad and Sandrea of Green River, Wyoming; three daughters, Shirley and David Corbin of Little Hocking, Ohio, Norma Layfield of Vienna, and Linda and Jerry Smith of Mineral Wells; one sister, Gladis Duke of Mogador, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Thelma Francis of Parkersburg and Betty Wright of Reedy; one brother-in-law, Harlo Wright of California; 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Hall was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Isaac N. Layfield, Jr., a daughter-in-law, Renice Whipkey Francis, and three brothers, Glen, Clay and Olle. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, September 1 at Stump Funeral Home Grantsville. Rev. Carroll McCauley will officiate. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
