 Grantsville Mayor Gary Knight resigned his position
shortly after he learned of his defeat in Tuesday's election. Knight reportedly was
angered because Donald Harris defeated him by a two-to-one margin, and tossed in
the towel two weeks early. Mayor Don Harris will take office on July 1st.
In a one sentence statement, he wrote "To whom it may concern, I hereby tender my
resignation as of midnight, Tuesday, June 12, 2001."
Grantsville's town council will meet in emergency session Thursday evening to
appoint an interim mayor.
