MAYOR KNIGHT QUITS EARLY - Reportedly Angered Because Of Defeat
Grantsville Mayor Gary Knight resigned his position
shortly after he learned of his defeat in Tuesday's election. Knight reportedly was
angered because Donald Harris defeated him by a two-to-one margin, and tossed in
the towel two weeks early. Mayor Don Harris will take office on July 1st.In a one sentence statement, he wrote "To whom it may concern, I hereby tender my resignation as of midnight, Tuesday, June 12, 2001."
Grantsville's town council will meet in emergency session Thursday evening to appoint an interim mayor.
