The news in Spencer's municipal election yesterday involved the losers. Incumbent
Sonny Starcher lost the cut for the top five council seats by only two votes. A
spokesperson at the Mayor's Office said a vote canvass is scheduled for Monday and
"It's possible the count could change Starcher's status." Candidate Jim Harris came
in last, to be the second loser.
The unofficial votes for council positions:

David Holland - 257 *
Andy Farmer - 212 *
Elsie Daughtery - 190 *
David Bowen - 183 *
Cecil Banks - 158 *
James "Sonny" Starcher - 156
Jim Harris - 51
Mayor Terry Williams was unopposed with 243 votes.
The town has about 1400 registered voters, according to Williams.
