BLUEFIELD 5-YEAR-OLD SHOT IN HEAD - Bluefield police are investigating an incident in which a five-year-old boy was shot in the head by his mother's live-in boyfriend.

The boy was taken to Roanoke Community Hospital in Virginia after Tuesday night's shooting. A police officer says the last he heard the boy was in critical but stable condition.

The mother's boyfriend, 19-year-old William Sims, told investigators that the shooting was an accident.

Sims said he was taking the gun out of a dresser drawer when the weapon discharged, sending the bullet through a wall and into another room where the child was.

Sims has been charged with one count of wanton endangerment.

CLENDENIN MAN SHOT AND STABBED - A man was stabbed in the arm then shot in the upper chest in Clendenin, according to a 911 dispatcher.

Clendenin police responded to a house after they received a call from a woman who said a man was standing in her house covered in blood.

A victim was taken to Charleston Area Medical Center's General Hospital.

Mayor Bob Ore said the victim is Clendenin resident Robert G. Hiskey.

The incident started as a domestic dispute in the Kelly Bottom area of town.

Local law enforcement agencies were told to watch for a woman driving on U.S. 119 who was armed with a knife and a shotgun.

BECKLEY SHOOTING LEAVES ONE DEAD -An argument escalated into a fight, and then gunfire, leaving one teenager dead and another charged with murder in Beckley.

Beckley City Police say 18-year old Kahreem Robertson is charged with first-degree murder for the shooting death of 16-year old Carter Wicks.

"Wicks had been shot multiple times. He was transported to Raleigh General Hospital where he was pronounced dead," officers said.

Robertson is in custody in the Southern Regional Jail awaiting arraignment.
