HEADLESS BODY IDENTIFIED IN WOOD

(08/16/2005)
West Virginia has experienced some tragic murders in recent times, and unfortunately several of the high profile cases have yet to be solved.

Now, the Wood County Sheriff's Department has identified a burned, decapitated body found in a field near Mineral Wells earlier this year.

The 19-year-old man was most likely killed in Akron, Ohio, and dumped in Mineral Wells, according to the Wood County Sheriff's Department.

The victim's name has not be released.

The man had been shot in the back of the head before the body was decapitated and burned.

The crime has been a priority of the Wood County Sheriff's Department since the body was discovered in February.

The medical examiner's office in Morgantown was able to make a positive ID with dental records.

No arrests have been made in the case.

After wrongfully arresting a former WVU instructor, there have been no arrests regarding the deaths of a Parkersburg couple at the same time the headless body was discovered.

Culprits are at large for the sniper killings in Charleston and the shooting deaths of Huntington youths last winter.
