METH LAB EXPLOSION USED FOR MOCK DISASTER

(08/13/2005)

It was a meth lab explosion. Something not thought of a few years ago, but now a possibility with the epidemic of meth manufacturing.

A mock disaster drill for training purposes was conducted yesterday evening at the now closed Grantsville swimming pool.

The Grantsville VFD, Calhoun EMS and Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center participated in the mock disaster.

Bill Ellis of Minnie Hamilton Health Care said there were four victims of the blast, rescued, treated and transported to the local center.

Calhoun EMS Director Josh Johnson arrived on the scene, saying "I'm grateful we decided not to use bunker gear for the exercise," with the street temperature at 100 degrees.
