KID'S BIKE RACE PART OF "CLASSIC" - A Great Spectator Event

(06/12/2001)
Sunday morning is the Kid's Race at the Appalachian Bike Classic starting at 10 a.m. at the Calhoun County Park. The kids will ride three different courses, geared toward their age group.

The six and under set (training wheels allowed) will take a spin around cones on the golf course. The seven and eight year olds will use the golf course as a race track and the nine and ten year olds will get to venture down the path into the woods. The eleven and twelve year olds will really have to work for the win, their course taking them beyond the barn and down the field.

The race fee is $5 and their category is determined by their age on December 31st. They will get professional race numbers and get to meet some of West Virginia's fastest riders and winners.

"So bring the kids to the park on Sunday and let the 'big folk' see what kind of competition Calhoun is growing," said Diann Clothier, one of the organizers.

The Classic is a great spectator sport for young and old, and is becoming one of West Virginia's major biking events.

Great free entertainment for the entire family is scheduled for Saturday evening.
