The Yo-Yo Elite Baton Corps and Show Corps recently attended the Drum Majorettes of America West Virginia State-Regional Championships held in Charleston WV on June 4th.

Over 150 twirlers came from across the state to compete for the honor of being named West Virginia State Champions and earning the right to represent West Virginia at the DMA National Championships held at Gardner Webb University in North Carolina in July.

The Yo-Yo Elite Baton Corps competed in 7 team events and came home with 5 State Championships and two second place wins. The team was also awarded the Outstanding Team of the day along with River City Twirlers of Parkersburg.

Several members of the team also competed in the individual competition and took home many Regional and State wins.Along with competing at the state and national level, the team has also been busy performing at the WV/Ohio Cystic Fibrosis Football Game, the Rollin Oldies Car Show, The Grafton Memorial Day Parade, as well as beginning fund raising for the Twirltacular Hawaiian Championships to be held in Honolulu Hawaii in July of 2006.

Ashley Conley, 14, is the newest member of the team. Ashley is the 14 year old daughter of Junior and Carolyn Conley of Orma. The team consists of girl's ages 4 to 24 from all across the state of West Virginia and Ohio. They are under the direction of Bonnie Roth, Sara Roth, Kim Cochran and Suzanne Samples.
