Although Saturday's crowd was way down from the June 4th Mud Bog - the pits were in great shape, the driver's were happy with the deep and speed pits and everyone had a great time.

Thanks to the vehicles running in the speed pit that are 'nitrous' driven. They were exciting to watch. Vic King of "Thumper" fame did a wheelie with both front tires 4 feet off the ground all the way through the speed pit. It was exciting, to say the least.< Thanks to Tom Ullum of Furr's Auto in Grantsville for donating his tractor, discs, and operator - Leonard Powell Jr. for working up the speed pit.

The participants using the pit said it was awesome this time around.

The Festival Committee appreciates the support of community business in getting these activities going.

The Wood Festival Committee would like to thank Larry Heiney for donating his equipment and time to work the Mud Bog and speed pits for the event. Larry and Danny Heiney donated time and operating skills in preparing the pits.

Toby Wagoner of WVRC Radio kept the music going and the crowd excited. Megazounds' Rich was a tremendous help to Toby and the Festival Committee keeping everyone organized and on top of things.

The Festival Committee would like to thank the Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department and EMS for their support and presence.

The Fire Department was available to hose vehicles off so they would not carry mud on to the main highway, they also were instrumental in getting the pits ready for action - and during the bog when the pits were reworked, the volunteers assisted with water.

The committee would like to thank all the volunteers and Fire Chief Dave Johnson for their support. The committee also thanks Rick Sampson for his support and encouragement in getting the Mud Bog scheduled.

We'd also like to thank Vic King for agreeing to be in charge and making sure the West Virginia Mud Association Rules were followed.

Thanks also to Larry Higgens for his assistance. The guys running the big machines are awesome to deal with.

Sometimes the committee members jobs are a little 'risky' but this crew is prepared to go the limit to get things ready for a good time at the Mud Bog! In the bucket are committee members Judy Powell and Angie Hersman
