Ashley is the 14 year old daughter of Junior and Carolyn Conley of Orma. She attended the National Championships July 24th through July 27th, held at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs (near Charlotte) North Carolina.

She came home Thursday with 2 Advanced World Championships in 2-Baton Twirling and 3-Baton Twirling. She also placed 2nd runner-up in Championship Basic Strutting, 3rd runner-up in Advanced Queen of the Day National Modeling, and 5th runner-up in Half Time presentation.

Ashley won 1st runner-up in TU International Advanced Parade Majorette, 1st runner-up in Advanced Modeling (last year she won that division), 2nd runner-up in Advanced Fancy Strutting, and 4th runner-up in Advanced Solo 1-Baton twirling.

She also won quite a few other top five awards in both competitions. She was last year's NBTA Advanced Miss Majorette of WV in the 13-15 year old division. She didn't enter this year because she chose to attend the TU and DMA Championships instead.

Ashley will be attending 9th grade at Calhoun County High School this coming year.

Hopefully, she will be twirling with the high school band during half time. She is the first from our area to receive such an accomplishment and to be able to state the fact that she is a champion twirler.

Prior to being a high school majorette last year, she played the xylophone in the band. She was also a middle high school cheerleader last year.

Ashley was the 8th grade Spelling Bee winner last year and was a finalist in the Golden Horseshoe contest. She had perfect attendance in school last year. Ashley belongs to 4-H and attends the Minnora Methodist Church.

She is the reigning Miss Teen Sweetheart of Calhoun County.

Her proud instructor is Lorraine Bailey of Orma, who has been putting WV on the twirling map for the last 4 years as World and International Champions, as well as Jr. Olympic Champions.
