SIX HUNDRED POT PLANTS SEIZED IN WIRT

About 600 "stunted-growth" marijuana plants were harvested by the Parkersburg Narcotics Task Force,the Wood County Sheriff's Department and Wirt County authorities yesterday in the Courtney Ridge area of Wirt County.

They were found in three separate patches located on Westvaco property, likely planted there by someone other than the property owners.

The Drug Enforcement Agency placed the street value of marijuana plants at $2,500 each. The plants were spotted by helicopter.

The drug eradication program will continue.
