LESTER P. SIDWELL - Newark, Wirt County

Lester P. Sidwell, 73, of Little Kanawha Estates, Newark, died Saturday evening, June 9, 2001 at his residence.

Mr. Sidwell was born August 9, 1927 at Munday, Wirt County, a son of the late William Z. and Mandy Bell Shuman Sidwell. He was a well-known mason and block layer with over 30 years service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and pitching horseshoes.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Gloria Wyer Sidwell, four daughters, Sheila Brannon of Grantsville, WV, Linda Shinol of Warren, Ohio, Lisa Cottrell and Cathy Sidwell both of Elizabeth, WV; three brothers, Donald Sidwell of Parkersburg, WV, Fred Sidwell of Clarksburg, WV and Frank Sidwell of Elizabeth; four sisters, Pauline Gillespie of Parkersburg, Della Cummings of Cleveland, Ohio, Glady Carpenter of Cairo, WV and Jane Owens of Canton, Ohio; two special nephews, Robert Sidwell of Parkersburg, and Glendin Sidwell of Virginia; 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rena Richards Sidwell in 1965; three brothers, Harley Sidwell, Gurvis Sidwell and Emory Sidwell; three sisters, Minnie Baileys, Lena Jones and Effie Sidwell.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Busch Funeral Home, Elizabeth, with Reverend David Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Wolverton Cemetery, Munday, WV, with military honors provided by representatives of the U.S. Army.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and until the time of the service on Wednesday. In lieu of other memorials donations may be made to Housecalls Hospice, c/o Busch Funeral Home, PO Box 43, Elizabeth, WV 26143
