Gilmer County Ambulance Service (GSAS) is developing a First Responder program. A First Responder is an person who completes a 44 hour First Responder course, the course is designed to train individuals with the necessary skills to provide basic emergent care to those in need. Interested individuals may call Gilmer County Ambulance Service at 462-5695, the class is slated to start in September.

An AED is used for an individual in cardiac arrest and can be used with minimal training. Early CPR and defibrillation for someone in cardiac arrest is the key to survival.
