Opal Mae Kirby, 83 - Mt. Zion

Opal Mae Kirby, 83, of Mt. Zion passed away on July 8, 2005. She was born in Roane County on January 14, 1922 to the late Henry Clay and Mae Greathouse Parrill.

She was a former employee of Rubber Fabricators and B. F. Goodrich in Grantsville. She was a member of Brooksville Missionary Baptist Church.

Surviving are one son, Richard Kirby and his wife, Karen, of Mt. Zion, WV; one grandson Matthew Kirby and his wife, Nicole, of Little Hocking, Ohio; three sisters, Nina Cassidy of Mineral Wells, Mamie Dawson of Parkersburg, Katherine Gainer of Barberton, Ohio and one brother Virgil "Dick" Parrill of Spencer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest "Buck" Kirby; sisters, Blanche Whystell and Joan Henthorn; brothers, Clay Parrill, Raymond Parrill and Robert Parrill.

Services will be at Stump Funeral in Grantsville on Sunday, July 10 at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Bryner Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, July 9 from 6 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department.
