CUNNINGHAM JAILED FOR VIOLATING COMMUNITY SERVICE

(07/07/2005)
A Calhoun man has been incarcerated in Central Regional Jail for failure to complete his community service.

Steven Cunningham, 33, and his wife were originally charged with 42 counts of animal cruelty by former Sheriff Allen Parsons.

Cunningham and his wife were charged with abusing about ten dogs and two rabbits at their residence on Big Run Road.

Parsons said Cunningham and his wife left the area for several days, leaving the animals without food or water.

"They were biting at their cages with what energy they had left wanting water and food," said Parsons, at the time.

Parsons said he had seen over 100 cases of animal cruelty in his 16 years in law enforcement, stating this was one of the worst.
