Bikers get last minute directions
Mountain bikers getting ready for the starting blast
The rush begins with an uphill climb
Lots of water drinking and sweating throughout the afternoon
"While you're ridin', I'll be over here hidin' your keys"
The 7.2 mile 11th annual Appalachian Bike Classic returns to Calhoun Park this week. Race director Gaylen Duskey says "There's some excitement and entertainment for everyone in the family.
Mountain bikers from all over WV and the region will be racing on the park's challenging trail.
A free music concert will be given at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night.
Saturday Events
10:30 a.m. - Calhoun Runners 5K race
11 a.m. - Family Fun Group Ride
2 p.m. - Kids race registration opens
2:45 p.m.- Racers meeting for Kids Race
3 p.m. - Kids Race (3 different courses)
4:15 p.m.- Kids Race Awards
5 p.m. - The Puddle Jump
7:30 p.m.- Bluegrass/country/rock concert
Sunday Events
9 a.m. - Registration opens
11:40 a.m. - Feature race meeting
Noon - Start of Appalachian Classic Feature Race
4 p.m. - Awards Ceremony, lots of great prizes!
