Carolyn Sue Drake, 53 - Newton

Carolyn Sue Drake, 53, of Newton, died Sunday, June 12, 2005, at the home of her daughter, in Cleveland, Ohio.

She was born January 23, 1952, at Crichton, Greenbrier County, a daughter of the late Woodrow and Anna Lawson Simmons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Palmer.

Sue was a homemaker and former nurse's aid at Arthur B. Hodges Center, Charleston. Also, she was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church, Newton.

Survivors include her husband of 37 years, James W. Drake, Sr. of Newton; two children, Brenda S. Lowe of Cleveland, OH and James W. Drake, Jr. of Newton; three grandchildren, Krysten Drake, Ariel Koch and Kaitlynn Brielle Young; four sisters, Ethel Jennings, Theresa Scott, Louise Landers and Emma Bare; two brothers, Woodrow Simmons, Jr. and Gene Simmons.

A funeral service will be conducted Friday, June 17 at 11 a.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Paul Males, Sr. officiating.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
