TWO CALHOUN PRINCIPALS RESIGN

The County Board of Education met at the Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center Monday evening.

Resignations announced at last night's school board meeting, were principals at Calhoun Middle and Arnoldsburg Elementary.

Calhoun Middle principal Emilio Garza has resigned effective June 30, announcing he will be accepting a position in Georgia, and Arnoldsburg principal Donald Price has resigned effective June 23 to accept a principalship in Raleigh County.

John Bennett, Career Center Director, Karen Blankenship, School Improvement Council secretary, Ken Townsend, Faculty Senate President, and Zane Gherke, instructor in the CISCO academy discussed the USIP with the Board and how the Faculty Senate was involved in school improvement.

Don Harris reported on the May 24 Career Center Meeting and Carlene Frederick reported on the RESA V Meeting held May 25.

The board unanimously voted to expel a student related to behavioral problems for one calendar year with counseling required with the case to be reviewed at the end of the first semester 2005-2006.

Out of State Conference Requests were approved for for Linda Edwards, a "Reading First Conference," and for the Youth Advantage Program to Pittsburgh.

The 2005-06 board meeting dates were approved, along with athletic accident insurance and voluntary student accident insurance. Sandra Bugby was given a School Audit Contract.

Retirements/Resignations, Emilio Garza (effective June 30, 2005) and Donald Price (effective June 23, 2005).

It was the consensus of the Board to realign the titles under the extra curricular policy and to go ahead and post the Head Middle School Volleyball coaching position and eliminate the position of Assistant Varsity Volleyball Coach.

The Cross Country Program could be eliminated because of interest and financial issues, to be decided at the next board meeting.

Frederick Frederick commended the administration on the year-end activities.
