Ola Boise, age 58, passed away after a battle with cancer. A teacher with great musical talent she was the daughter of Manford and Ollie Arthur Boise. She was a member of the Belpre City Council and was active in Republican Party politics.

Jeremy Ferrell has accepted employment with Simonton Windows.

Glen & Morris, the Catfish Boys, have been having both good and bad luck lately. The other day Glen, a well known expert around waterways perched himself on top of a five gallon bucket in the back corner of a 10' johnboat and proposed to be a ferryman to deliver a fishing buddy to the other side. However, the laws of physics prevailed and Glen, complete with his waders, ended up in the Little Kanawha. After trying to do a Shamu imitation with lots of frantic splashing and new (to most) swimming strokes our boatman discovered that the water was only waist deep. While all this was going on Morris was yelling, "Get the bucket, get the bucket, don't let it get away!"

While the "Catfish boys" got some 30 pounders as well as a number of nice smaller ones Morris fought the big one for three hours and the fish won. As usual, "The bigun got away."

One of the Ferrells caught a 47", 30 lb muskie in the river below Brooksville on a trotline.

Mary Reno was calling on Donna Sue Ferrell, Anna Reno and other area relatives and friends. Donna Sue has purchased a "new to her" vehicle.

Carl Ferrell's Cherry tree is full of almost ripe cherries however the Wax Wings have found them.

Young wild turkeys at the head of Beaver Dam are big enough to fly but not big enough to fry.

Thirty equestrians took a scenic ride out the ridge at the head of Ann's Run.

Several local folks attended the Wood Festival in Grantsville.

Ben West was attending to business in Creston over the weekend.

A good crowd was on hand and a significant amount of money was raised at the Creston Community benefit auction. Several folks came away with some nice items. As usual Bobby Ray Starcher did a fine job for the community. The "Florida real estate lady" and her sister served up goodies from the kitchen while Cap'n Eddie and Fred sold tickets and such and some of the "heavies" worked with the merchandise.

Keith Collins has been working on the plumbing in his new house and it has almost gotten the best of him. However a bowl under the leak is always a good "fix". Keith will be going to Germany this summer for a month and he thought that might be a good time to call in a plumber.

Anna Engelke and Dina Hallow were shopping at the outlet mall in Leesburg, VA when they decided on a whim to drive into DC and visit the National Archives Museum.

The Calhoun road crew did a fine job patching the holes in the Richardsonville road. The work was done in the nick of time for lots of folks to take advantage of the weekend for camping and socializing. The Loudens were at the old Pell place and there were about 25 vehicles, tents, campers and such at the old McGill place.

The price of local Penn grade crude rose to $51.50 over the weekend reflecting changes on the world market.

Ted Grim from Erie Pennsylvania was visiting relatives and friends in the area.
