2005: MUD A'FLYIN' EVERYWHERE - Wood Fest Mud Bog Red Clay Excitement

(06/04/2026)

If you like playing in the mud ...

or enjoy watching folks get dirty ...

or like to see mud fly through the air ...

or enjoy seeing folks in a bind

Mud flew everywhere last night, bringing out the best in folks who haven't had as much fun since they played in a mud hole or made mud balls.

Calhoun's red clay soil may be the scourge of farmers, but it sure makes good mud bogs. It is slick and slimy, making traction difficult, and it sticks to everything.

Consider the ATV Mud Bog Competition last night sponsored by the Wood Festival. The "ultimate red neck event" (besides tonight's truck bog) brought out lots of folks to watch the action.

The object was simple. How far can you get through the mud? None made it all the way through, sinking deep into the muddy mess with the engine generally stalling.

Tonight's truck bog gets underway at 7 p.m. Admission $5.
